Animal Matters Hearing Board

Overview

The Animal Matters Hearing Board (AMHB) is an advisory board established by the Board of County Commissioners. It hears and decides administrative appeals to the enforcement action taken by Calvert County Animal Control. It is also the only board that may recommend changes to Chapter 7. Animals of the Calvert County Code of Ordinances.

Composition

The AMHB is made up of seven members including a representative from an animal welfare rescue group, a member of a professional animal organization, a Deputy Sheriff, a veterinarian or a veterinarian technician with more than three years’ experience and three citizen members who are not affiliated with a rescue group or professional animal organization.

Meetings

Meetings of the Animal Matters Hearing Board are held at the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
